Dr. Sachchida Nand Pandey is a Consultant Molecular Biologist and Transplant Immunologist/ Chief Scientist in the Department of Pathology. He has a PhD in Cancer Genetics from the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. He furthered his training as a post-doctoral fellow at Center for Genetic Medicine Research, Children’s National Medical Center, Washington, DC, USA. Before joining the MPUH, he was trained in clinical genomics and immunology while working as Senior Scientist in MedGenome Labs Ltd. Bangalore and Cellcys Lab Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai.
His post-PhD research experience was focused on the field of cancer genetics and muscular dystrophies and renal diseases. He worked extensively on cancer genetics, renal diseases and genetically defined muscular dystrophies including transgenic preclinical disease model development, their characterization, and evaluation of various targeted gene therapies and small molecules as potential treatment strategies.
Clinical Interest
Utilizing genetics and immunological techniques to diagnose urological and kidney diseases includes HLA typing, single antigen screening, flow crossmatch, qPCR assays for viral load, and drug metabolism genotyping to support renal transplant programs. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) for rare renal disorder, prostate cancer, and renal cancer diagnosis and prognosis.
Research Interest
His primary research interest is discovering the novel genetic variants involved in disease mechanisms and molecular targets for therapeutic kidney diseases, kidney, and prostate cancer. In addition, he is also interested in improving the quality of life of renal transplant patients by suppressing infections. Further, his research interest is extended for renal tissue regeneration using renal tissue implants to recover the kidney function.”
